Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our products

What is the difference between cast and extruded acrylic?
Cast acrylic is manufactured by pouring liquid resin between glass plates, resulting in higher optical clarity, better chemical resistance, and superior machining characteristics. It's ideal for high-end applications and fabrication. Extruded acrylic is produced by pushing acrylic through rollers, making it more economical but with slightly lower optical quality and more internal stress. For most applications, cast acrylic is recommended.
Can acrylic sheets be cut to custom sizes?
Yes, we offer precision cut-to-size services for all acrylic sheets. We can cut to any dimension with tolerances of ±1mm. Cutting is done using CNC routers or laser cutters depending on the complexity of the shape. Standard lead time for custom cutting is 3-4 weeks.
Is acrylic suitable for outdoor use?
Standard acrylic can yellow and become brittle when exposed to UV light over time. We offer UV-stabilized grades that are specifically formulated for outdoor applications. These UV grades resist yellowing and maintain their clarity for 10+ years in outdoor conditions. Be sure to specify UV grade when ordering for outdoor use.
How does acrylic compare to polycarbonate?
Acrylic offers better optical clarity (92% vs 88%) and is easier to polish to a perfect edge. It's also more scratch-resistant and less expensive. However, polycarbonate is 250x stronger than glass (vs 10x for acrylic) and has better impact resistance. Choose acrylic for optical quality and appearance; choose polycarbonate for safety and high-impact applications.
What is the best way to clean acrylic sheets?
Use a soft, damp microfiber cloth with mild soap and water. Avoid ammonia-based cleaners (like Windex) as they can cause crazing (fine cracks). For scratches, light surface scratches can be buffed out with a plastic polish. Always use soft materials to avoid scratching the surface.
